Yekaterinburg
Yekaterinburg was formerly Sverdlosk during the Soviet era and was a closed city. Now open to tourists it is a great destination between Moscow and Irkutsk.

Circum Baikal
The Circum Baikal Railway travels along the old railroad bed along the north western portion of Lake Baikal. The route was abandoned when the Angara River was dammed in the early 1950’s. Special trains run on weekends along the original tracks that were laid in 1902.
