Trackside through Siberia
North of Vladivostok and east of Ulan Ude is Khabarovsk. On the first morning north of Vladivostok the train turns west at the Amur River at Khabarovsk and continues west.
A few images of the city called, “The San Francisco of Russia” as we prepare to depart on the Trans Siberian Railway.
The monastery at Yanina Gamma was built on the location where Nicholas, Alexandra and the children were removed after execution in Yekaterinburg. It is very beautiful and haunting.
Yekaterinburg was formerly Sverdlosk during the Soviet era and was a closed city. Now open to tourists it is a great destination between Moscow and Irkutsk.
